Sexy Nerd and I are planning to build a window seat beneath the windows in our dining room. Well, really Sexy Nerd is going to build it while I blog in my pajamas, but I'm still planning to take 98% of the credit.

I love all the possibilities offered by a new window seat - extra storage, a reading nook, and even a place to stretch out and take a nap.

Here are some photos I've gathered from various sites for the best window seat ideas. There's something for every style, from a traditional all-white farmhouse to a cozy mountain hideaway.

My original window seat ideas post was written in February, 2011, when we were planning to add a window seat to our home. Two+ years later, how is that window seat coming along?

To quote Christmas Vacation, I can picture it in my mind and it's breathtaking.

Sexy Nerd has been too busy to build my window seat. Between organizing his office, painting "meatballs" on his Mini Cooper, baking raw cookies, and napping while simultaneously watching Nascar, he just hasn't had the time.

One day I'll get my window seat. How difficult do you think it would be for me to just build it myself?

Keeping in mind that I'm not handy at all.

Really, you may as well consider me the anti-handy.

Of course, what I really want is the window seat from either the 1st or 2nd photo (along with the chandelier above it, an arch, brick that's red but not too red, and rustic wood, all somehow seamlessly merged into 1 perfect spot).

A pretty view outside the window would be nice too.

I love everything about this room, especially the wall color.

Sexy Nerd hates this photo! Not because of the design, but because I realized when I saw it that we could create this exact space if we (he) moved our washer and dryer upstairs (and built a place for them upstairs, of course). Do you have one of those snug laundry rooms that you have to walk through to get from your house to your garage? You can transform it into this!

This one looks doable. I could probably just put some cheap bookcases side by side and top them with a patio cushion from Home Depot.

I've been saving these photos to my computer over the past few years, so I don't have links, unfortunately. (If you see a photo you recognize, please let me know and I'll gladly link it back to where it belongs!) This has taught me the importance of adding my url when I post a photo of my home online.

For our window seat, I'm leaning toward having large baskets for storage underneath, like in the second photo, and a clean, natural finish, possibly without any cushions, like in the last photo. Though, I'm not really sure those two photos combined would result in a pretty window seat.

Hello, my bloggy friends. I have a HelloFresh complaint and believe they are pulling a scam. Yours truly came *this close* to falling for it. Maybe scam is too harsh of a word. Sneaky? You can decide for yourself. The fact that there are so many Hello Fresh complaints online does seem suspicious. My main complaint about Hello Fresh has to do with their promotional rate, which seems like it is set up to be intentionally misleading (more on this below). Despite so many people complaining about being charged more than they thought they'd agreed to, Hello Fresh maintains this as part of their business model and continues to mislead. So it's intentional, right? I do not recommend Hello Fresh. For starters, the service is just ingredients-by-mail with recipes, not meals. See it? Waaay at the back of the photo? I like how the window seat extends past the window all the way to the wall. How about you? I'm happy to report that my research on Snopes and other sites has shown that these do not explode, at least not when used properly. 3 Minute Toaster/Convection Oven Smores

These are perfect when you're craving a quick, sugary treat. They work equally well in a toaster oven and a convection oven.
